PROGRAMS

McCEDA actively seeks to host or co-sponsor events in the Madison County area that promote the mission and goals of the organization.

Youth Development Program/Workforce Enhancement/Career Development Programs for McCeda began in December 2005. The first event was held at Madison County Central School in Madison, FL and involved a student career day. More than 40 adult volunteers participated along with about 200 students from the Madison County Central School. Speakers shared insights into their careers, career paths, coursework and academic preparation for their careers. We partnered again in December 2006 with similar results. The third career day was held on March 30, 2007 at the Greenville Primary School. The fourth career day was held in December 2007 at Madison County Central School. Approximately 1400 students (grades K-8) participated. The fifth career day was held on December 12, 2008 at Madison County Central School. The sixth career day was held on May 1, 2009 at the Greenville Primary School, and we have participated in several career development and student enrichment programs each year since then.

The Career Day activities are designed to help motivate the students and help them see the importance of staying in school and preparing themselves academically for the work environment. McCeda supports the events with financial contributions, and assistance with organizing the event, logistics, and recruiting volunteer speakers who participate in the events. McCeda volunteers have traveled from as far south as Miami, Florida and as far north as Washington, DC and Baltimore, Maryland to participate.
